A positive attitude to life can be learned

Tips for positive thinking

Just now in these weeks of "isolation", that is, the imposed quarantine at home, each of us has more time. This time was initially used for housework, for long-delayed projects in the garden, for new hobbies like baking bread and cakes, and lately also more and more for sewing mouth-nose-protective masks. As a single person, however, the ceiling falls on your head at some point. And parents eventually run out of ideas to entertain the kids at home and pass the time. Solidarity turns into despair, the initial positive mood slowly turns and you ask yourself: How can you still believe in the good and think positively in all this chaos?

Even in this difficult phase for all of us, everyone needs time for themselves. A few hours of quality time to recharge your batteries for a positive attitude and beautiful thoughts. Because in the end, that's what transfers to other people: Who gives a smile, gets in most cases also one back. Those who go through the world with a positive aura will also encounter fewer negative people. And that's exactly why our appeal to you is: take the time to focus on your own self and work on a positive attitude to life - because this is something you can definitely learn and then later also radiate. Important: The positive charisma always comes from within and is influenced by optimistic thoughts, a positive basic attitude towards life and the belief in a good future!

You wonder why we as NUHR Medical Center dedicate ourselves to this topic? Quite simply, because there is more to human well-being than just physical health. The soul must also be well in order for a person to feel fit and healthy. That's why it's important for us to think outside the box and look at the subject of health as a whole and from many different angles.

How you can influence your thoughts

Positive thoughts make a lasting contribution to making you happier - so try the following tips right now today:

Tip #1: Go through life smiling

As already mentioned, you will reap many friendly glances from people you know and also strangers if you spread smiles yourself - even if you don't currently have many opportunities to execute your smile publicly. In addition, your brain automatically releases happiness hormones through the happy facial expression and you feel happier yourself. This means that you have already learned the first lesson on the path to a positive outlook on life.

Tip #2: Be consciously grateful

You will succeed best if you write down every evening (or even share with your partner) what you are grateful for on this past day. Maybe it's the walk in the sun, a kind gesture from your partner, success at work, or a kind word from your children. If you write down your gratitude in a kind of diary, you can refer to it at a later time when you urgently need positive thoughts.

Tip #3: Think about what is really important

Your girlfriends already have child, house & husband? Your neighbor has furnished his apartment more modern than you? Your best friend has a new car with more horsepower than yours? So what? Stop making such comparisons. What is really important to you in life right now? Is it your car? Is it your job? Or do you want to start planning your family? Whatever it is, make yourself aware of what you are currently burning for and what your next goal is. You can safely put everything else on the back burner - just because your colleague earns more or your neighbor lives nicer doesn't mean you have to be unhappy.

Tip #4: Avoid media & news

Certainly not easy in the current situation, but try it. Of course, you should still be receptive to all recommendations and orders made by the government and spread through the media. But beyond that, the media can really cause fear and panic, can't it? The problem is that sensations always get people's full attention. The worst traffic accident, the most devastating earthquake, the biggest crisis - these are headlines that can be taken from the media every day. But how often do they talk about positive events? That's right - practically never. That's why it can do you good to simply avoid the media for a while. Bad news will not necessarily influence your thoughts positively.

Tip #5: Perceive & accept the negative

Beyond all the positive thoughts, however, the negative should not be completely neglected. You should not simply sweep the bad things in life under the table, but also consciously accept them - this should also be learned. Can the situation currently be changed? If yes, then do something about it. If not, then accept the situation and take another close look: Can't you perhaps even draw something positive from it?

And now it's your turn: take conscious time-outs from everyday life, follow our tips for positive thinking and go through life smiling and grateful. After just a few days, you will notice how the newly learned, positive attitude to life will affect your general well-being.

Good luck!
